Country Junction & Miracle Adventure Mini Golf

Ed Bell, the owner of a local construction company, opens a market adjacent to his family home.  In partnership with Jamie and Dan Collins, Ed expands the market to include a plant nursery.  He calls the market Country Junction which is still located at the junction of Miracle Beach Drive and the Island Highway.

Later that year, in partnership with Bruce McLay and Graham Wallace, Ed begins to build Miracle Beach Adventure Golf next to the newly opened market and nursery.  He hires Garry Sawatzky of Adventure Design Ltd. to begin designing and constructing the course.  While Garry gets started on the design of the course, Ed and his construction teams begin working on the course buildings, the waterfall, and the iconic windmill.

Garry and his brother Dan are well known in North America, each having designed a portfolio of several popular mini golf courses across Canada and the United States.

1991

After a year of hard work, Ed opens the new mini golf and manages the business with Liz Firth.  Locals and school children from Miracle Beach Elementary are among the first to golf on the newly opened course.

1993

The first Jordan Lige Golf Tournament is held at Miracle Beach Mini Golf.  The tournament, organized by Jordan, runs annually featuring teams from the nearby campgrounds.  Following the tournament, an annual academy-style awards ceremony is hosted at The Alders Beach Resort.

Jordan is an award-winning cross-country skier who regularly represents Team BC in the Canadian Special Olympics. He is also proudly involved with the Cool Arts Society who supports artists with special abilities. He looks forward to organizing this event every year.

2005

Ready for retirement, Ed sells the market and mini golf to Mr. Allen Vandekerkhove who is known on Vancouver Island as the owner of Payless Gas and several other business ventures.  Mr. Van and his team run the mini golf for several years.

2006

The North Island Mini Golf Championships are held at North Island Mini Golf & Internet Café on August 26th and 27th drawing a crowd of golfers and spectators to enjoy the fun.  Later that year, the first Trunk or Treat and Halloween celebration is held in the parking lot and hosted by Mr. Van's amazing staff.

2007

The first Miracle Beach farmer’s markets begin in June next to the market building in the Miracle Beach Landing Mini Golf parking lot.  Karen Falk is the first Market Manager who begins with 8 vendors and surges to over 20 in a month.

2013

The mini golf clubhouse is remodeled to accommodate interior seating, streamlined golf registration, and more efficient ice cream and café service.

2019 - Present

Wendy, Todd, and Paul, local to the Comox Valley, purchase the mini golf and market building from Mr. Van.  Over the next few years they begin updating the exterior of the clubhouse, freshening up the interior, and completing extensive maintenance projects and upgrades on the thirty-year-old course.  Significant repairs a re made to the pond, waterfalls, windmill, and golf greens.

To this day, Miracle Beach Mini Golf serves thousands of golfers each season, May through September.  Golfers of all ages and abilities return year after year to perfect their game and make memories that will last a lifetime.  Several regulars have been visiting each year since 1991 and will continue for years to come!
